Kickoff Event M³OCCA Phase-2

On July 1–2, the kickoff meeting for the second phase of the International Doctorate Program Measuring and Modelling Mountain Glaciers and Ice Caps in a Changing Climate (IDP M³OCCA) took place in Erlangen, marking the start of another four years of collaborative research.

The program aims to develop novel methods for observing and quantifying global glacier change. To achieve this, researchers combine satellite image analysis, geophysical modelling, and artificial intelligence to improve the observation and projection of glacier evolution.

Building on the successful first phase of the program, nine new doctoral researchers have joined IDP M³OCCA to continue this interdisciplinary work. The meeting brought together old and new PhD candidates, supervisors, and project partners to discuss research outcomes and lay the foundation for the next phase of the program.
